When people struggling with debt consider filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the part of the process that often creates the most anxiety is the creditors’ meeting. This is sometimes referred to as the “341 meeting” based on the section of the Bankruptcy Code that discusses this conference. The good news is that these meetings, conducted in-person or online, are typically short and simple. Often, the only attendees are the bankruptcy trustee, the filer and their attorney.

Once the meeting concludes, the trustee will either request additional information or move forward with administering your case. If there are no objections or complications, your debts will typically be discharged within a few months. Having an experienced bankruptcy attorney by your side can ensure you’re prepared and can address any issues that arise.
